10 boko haram fighters killed by Nigeria troops

Nigerian troops kill 10 Boko Haram fighters in repelled attack

Boko Haram, a militant islamist group, has been blamed for the death of more than 20,000 people and displacing of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since 2009.

Following uproar over the approval of the National Economic Council to spend one billion dollars from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) on the fight against Boko Haram insurgents, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the money was for the security architecture of the entire country and was agreed on by governors across party lines.
The two-week operation netted the largest number of arrests of Boko Haram fighters in recent months in northeast Nigeria, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu said.
The Nigerian Army on Monday confirmed the attack suspected to be coordinated by terror group Boko Haram but said no civilian was killed.
"Where the Governors have chose to "donate" some of their funds from the ECA to fight Boko Haram, their state assemblies can kick against it that such was not appropriated by them".

He also stated that little would be achieved if relevant state government agencies do not work with the federal government to achieve the country's developmental objectives.
"We are, therefore, demanding for equity and justice in the deployment of the resources God has placed in our land".
A fresh crisis is now looming between the executive and the legislature over the planned $1billion withdrawal from the Excess Crude Account, ECA to fight the Boko Haram war as both the Chambers of the National Assembly resume plenary tomorrow.
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has called on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, release funds for tackling of issues of environmental degradation and security in the Niger Delta.
"We want to warn the Federal Government to be very sincere and honest with the way it manages the resources that come from our region". It is our opinion as young Nigerians, that the generosity of the governors, be applauded as it will increase the capacity of our military to frontally confront the remnants of the insurgents, who are still desperately making attempt to escalate the now relatively curtailed situation.
